Global ATS are expanding their Gloucester ATC training facilities in early 2014 to accommodate their growth.

Building contracts have been signed and additional classrooms, pilot overflow and common room facilities will be created. All fitted with the latest SIM technology and fully air conditioned. This will more than double our student training capacity at one time. Car parking facilities will also be increased.

Planning and managing the build, Technology Director Marcus Mimms confirms: “Work began on 20th November with completion scheduled for 20th December. The additional facilities will significantly enhance our existing campus to continue to meet the needs of UK and international ATC students and increasing aviation customer demands”.

For more information about Global’s UK ATC training expansion and course availability, please contact Andy Cameron.

In November, Global installed a new Radar Simulator for the Irish Air Corps (IAC) in Dublin, Ireland, designed and built under competitive tender.

Built and configured by Global’s specialist team in the UK before delivery to Ireland, it simulates the local Baldonnell airspace and includes a range of scenario data and military air exercises. The SIM provides the IAC with two ATC Radar controller positions and a combined pseudo pilot/supervisor position which also acts as the exercise manager position. Expert SIM training for IAC military and civilian personnel has also been successfully provided allowing the IAC to continue ongoing development of the airspace and scenarios.
