JUNE 05 2020
We are pleased to announce that we successfully restarted our EU 2015/340, UK CAA approved training courses on Monday 1st June 2020 after the 10-week COVID-19 closure. Our International training programmes will recommence from July 1st and we aim to be near to full capacity by September 2020.
Initial reports are that the measures Global ATS have put in place to keep the staff and students safe have been well received; they are commensurate, and they are allowing effective training to take place.
We are constantly monitoring the situation and are ready to adjust our, initially reduced, capacity in line with government guidelines, as they are published.
In addition to this, we have spent a significant amount of time preparing the training environment for the safe return of our staff and students. Significant changes to our operation include:
- Health Screening of all staff and students upon arrival at the college.
- Adaption of the training facility to accommodate social distancing rules, wherever practicable.
- A dedicated team of Covid-19 Champions ensuring that the college is kept clean and well stocked with PPE and sanitisation supplies.
- Online staff and student training material to help normalise the new operation.
If you would like any more detail on how we are keeping our students and staff safe during these challenging times then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
MARCH 25 2020
I wanted to take a moment to update our customers, students and connections within our industry.
In line with the UK Government’s announcement on March 23rd, Global ATS will temporarily halt its classroom and simulator-based training until a time when it is considered safe to resume. My number one priority is to ensure the continued safety of our valued students, staff, suppliers and the wider community in which we work and live.
At the moment we plan to continue our UK & International training course schedule starting June 1st. In the meantime, we continue to deliver various theory-based training courses using collaborative conferencing technology to customers who require us to adopt such an approach.
I’m also pleased to announce that our team of dedicated instructors are now working remotely on various courseware development projects, allowing us to provide a wider range of training courses in the future.
Our administration team continue to take and manage bookings for both UK & International courses, so feel free to contact the team on
+44 01452 715 630 or
andy.cameron@global-ats.com.
Once again, I wish you all the very best of health and please look after yourselves and your families in these challenging times.
Regards,
Marcus Mimms

COVID-19 UPDATE FROM GLOBAL ATS
As you will be aware, Global ATS has continued to monitor and react to the ever-changing situation relating to coronavirus (COVID-19) and our number one priority remains the safety of our students, employees and their families.
As the UK Government has rapidly escalated its position and guidelines over recent days, I have today decided to take further actions to ensure we not only continue to ensure the safety of students, employees and families but also do our part towards the goal of promoting effective social distancing.
Effective from the 23rd March 2020:
We will not commence any new courses which are advertised on our published schedule until at least 1st June 2020.
All courses which have started in the last two weeks will be postponed and students will be given places on the next set of scheduled courses which commence on Monday 1st June 2020. Students will be allowed to participate on any parts of the course they have already completed. Students will continue to have access to our Distance Learning Portal (DLP) and will be able to use this time to further prepare for the rescheduled course.
Any course which has already started and is due to conclude during the week commencing 23rd March 2020 will be concluded in line with UK CAA requirements.
If at anytime between now and the 1st June 2020 we consider it safe to do so we will endeavour to run short courses such as APCs, OJTI and Assessor. Please use the normal channels to contact us if you would like to be considered for these courses. Our main reception number +44 (0)1452 715630 will remain attended between normal opening hours or contact Andy Cameron (Academy Director) andy.cameron@global-ats.com.
Staff who can work from home will continue to do so using collaborative teamworking technology. As I mentioned in my previous update, Global ATS will utilise this time to focus our efforts on the development of a range of new training materials and courses.
I once again very much wish our students, valued customers, staff, suppliers the very best of health over the coming weeks and months.
We will continue to monitor the situation in the coming weeks and months and will endeavour to put out regular updates.

MARCH 18 2020:
Message from Global ATS Managing Director Marcus Mimms
As the Aviation industry deals with the extraordinary situation we all find ourselves in, I wanted to reach out and address concerns about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the steps Global ATS is taking at our training facilities. Our focus is on keeping our students and staff safe and healthy while continuing to provide an essential training service to ensure Air Traffic Control units both in the UK and worldwide can meet their operational requirements.
Our number one priority is the safety of our students, employees and their families. At Global ATS, our staff always follow strict hygiene protocols. We have reinforced these in line with the latest UK Government guidelines; in some cases we have gone above and beyond these guidelines.
In the short term, we have prohibited, with immediate effect, anyone other than students and essential staff to our training facility. We are staffing the college with a core team of training staff supported by an onsite senior manager and administration/student welfare staff to ensure continuity of training as well as ensuring we meet the requirements of our many formal regulatory approvals. Also, to further reduce the risks, our staff have been prohibited from visiting non-essential external locations.
Those staff who are now working from home are embracing collaborative and teamwork-based technology, allowing them to continue to work efficiently from home while reducing the footfall in our facilities. Further to this, any member of staff who is displaying any of the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) will self-isolate in line with the latest UK Government guidelines.
We are closely monitoring the situation to make sure we are taking all precautions to protect our trainees and colleagues alike. Our training facilities remain open for business, and please feel free to contact us on +44 (0) 1452 715630.
The coming months will see opportunities for Global ATS and our staff to further develop and expand our training offerings to our customers. If you have any specific courses or programmes you would like to see us offer in the near future, please contact your Point-of-Contact at Global ATS, and we will do all we can to facilitate your requirements. I very much wish our students, valued customers and staff the very best of health over the coming weeks and months. As an industry, I have no doubt that we will all come out the other side of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation stronger and more resilient in the future, and Global ATS looks forward to continuing to provide and facilitate world-class Aviation training services to our customers from all around the world.
