English Language Training

Global ATS provide English Language Training to sponsored and self-sponsored international students throughout the year.

Our well qualified instructors have many years’ teaching experience in multi-cultural environments. The college has recently been inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and passed with excellent results.

Aviation English

Course Duration: 4 – 8 weeks

Course Objectives: To provide entrants with the necessary English language skills in order to operate safely and effectively in an aviation environment, and to reach level 4 or above in an ICAO language proficiency assessment. Operational ATCs and pilots are required to reach and maintain an ICAO level 4 and above.

Course Summary: The ICAO rating scale contains the following six level descriptors –
Level 6: Expert, Level 5: Extended, Level 4: Operational, Levels 1 – 3: Non-operational. Each level consists of the following language proficiency components: pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interactions. Training focuses on the specific skills described in the ICAO level 4 language profile.

Entry Criteria: Entrants require an English language level of Pre-Intermediate (ICAO level 2) and above.

General English

Course Duration: Various

Course Objectives: General English courses are valuable for students wishing to improve their all-round English language skills. They can be used to enhance travel or employment opportunities, or as preparation for further study and examination courses.

Course Summary: Courses are based on a communicative approach to language learning and offer a balanced syllabus. The four core skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing are included, as well as grammar instruction and vocabulary expansion. A variety of modern material is used across various learning platforms to encourage student participation and interaction.

Entry Criteria: There are courses for all levels of ability, from Elementary to Advanced level.

English for Specific Purposes

Course Duration: 4 – 8 weeks

Course Objectives: English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is often divided into two categories:

  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  • English for Occupational Purposes (EOP).

In both categories, courses are designed to meet the particular needs of the learners. At present the following courses are offered:

  • English for Academic Purposes
  • Business English
  • Legal English.

Course Summary: For each discipline, specific language requirements (in terms of lexis and grammar) are developed, as well as appropriate skills, dialogues and techniques.

Entry Criteria: Entrants require an English language level of Intermediate and above.

Train the Trainer Courses

Course Duration: Various

Course Objectives: To provide entrants with the necessary skills to conduct student training and assessment within both classroom and one-to-one scenarios. At present the following courses are offered:

  • Classroom Instructural Techniques
  • ICAO Language Proficiency Raters Course.

Course Summary: Training and rating techniques are provided through both theoretical study and practical application. Courses are tailored to the specific needs of the discipline and to the relevant regulating authority.

Entry Criteria: Entrants require an English language level of Intermediate or above.
